Text: 1 Kings 17:1 “And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”

In 1 Kings 17:1, Elijah’s declaration, “according to my word,” highlights the authority and power of spoken words. Through scripture, we understand the significance of our words and the profound impact they can have on our lives.

1. Decreeing Peace

    • Scripture: John 16:33 – “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
    • Life Application: Speak peace over your life, trusting in God’s overcoming power to bring tranquility amidst life’s challenges.

    2. Decreeing Long Life

    • Scripture: Psalm 118:17 – “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.”
    • Life Application: Declare God’s promise of long life over yourself, believing in His sustaining grace and protection.

    3. Decreeing Abundance

    • Scripture: 2 Corinthians 9:8 – “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
    • Life Application: Affirm God’s abundance in your life, trusting in His provision and blessings to overflow in every area.

    4. Decreeing Increased Brightness

    • Scripture: Proverbs 4:18 – “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”

    5. Decreeing Divine Healing

    • Scripture: Isaiah 53:5 – “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
    • Life Application: Confess God’s healing over your body and soul, trusting in His redemptive power to bring wholeness and restoration.

    6. Decreeing Freedom from Oppression

    • Scripture: Luke 4:18-19 – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”
    • Life Application: Proclaim your freedom from oppression by the power of God’s Spirit, believing in His deliverance and victory over every form of bondage.
