Why Faith is Important
Main Bible Text: Hebrews 11:6 – “Without faith it’s impossible to please God because anyone
who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek
Him.”
Faith is the cornerstone of our Christian walk. Yet, often, our religiosity obscures our understanding of true faith. While we may define faith as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen, the crucial question is: How is your faith working for you as a Christian?
The Foundation of Christianity: The ethics of Christianity are grounded in faith. Faith isn’t
contagious; you don’t acquire it by being around faithful people or attending church out of habit.
It’s a personal journey surrounded by a community of faith.
Living by Faith: Being a Christian isn’t about mere religious acts like paying tithe or attending
services; it’s about walking, talking, facing adversity, living, thinking, and raising your family by
faith. Your Christian experience is rooted in your faith.
The Power of Faith: Faith moves mountains and unlocks God’s promises in our lives.
Righteousness apart from faith won’t accomplish much. Romans 10:6-8 emphasizes having faith
in God, as righteousness of faith brings results.
Examples of Faith in Action: Throughout the Bible, we see remarkable examples of faith: the
parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21), the faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel
3:16-18), Daniel in the lion’s den (Daniel 6:15-16), Paul and Silas in prison (Acts 16:16-40), the
fall of Jericho (Joshua 6:16-27), and the faith of Father Abraham (Hebrews 11:8-10).
Conclusion: Our faith is what pleases God and activates His power in our lives. Let’s choose to live by faith, trusting in God’s promises and believing that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.
