Living with Open Hands
Main Bible Passage: Deuteronomy 15:10
“Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”
Living with open hands means living with a heart that is willing to give freely, without hesitation or selfishness. Deuteronomy 15:10 encourages us to give generously and without a grudging heart, trusting that in doing so, we will experience God’s blessing in every area of our lives. Open-handed living is not just about what we give; it’s about the attitude in which we give and how it reflects our trust in God’s provision.
When we open our hands to give, we acknowledge that everything we have is a gift from God. Living with open hands is an expression of our faith and dependence on Him. This generosity is not just about money—it’s about giving our time, talents, and love freely to others. Whether we are helping those in need or sharing our resources, the act of giving reflects our understanding that God is the ultimate source of all that we have.
Deuteronomy 15:10 teaches us that when we give generously and without a grudging heart, God will bless us in all that we do. This blessing is not necessarily material wealth but the peace, joy, and fulfillment that come from living in alignment with God’s will. It is a heart posture that frees us from the fear of lack and replaces it with confidence in God’s ability to provide for our every need.
Living with open hands also means releasing our grip on the things of this world, recognizing that they are temporary. As we give freely, we store up treasures in heaven, where they will never fade away. In this way, open-handed living becomes a practice of eternal significance.
Life Application:
Today, reflect on how you can live with open hands. Is there someone you can bless with your time, resources, or love? Are there areas in your life where you’ve been holding on tightly, afraid to let go? Trust that as you give generously, God will bless you and provide for your needs.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the abundance You have given me. Help me to live with open hands, giving generously and without hesitation. May I trust in Your provision and know that as I bless others, You will bless me in return. Teach me to give freely, just as You have given so freely to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
